Guatemala confusion number 1…

So I get to Guatemala city 5 HOURS LATER than planned … No real problem, these things happen. I am planning on staying at a hostel called the Jackrabbit, only 600m from the airport … I start walking in the direction of the rough map provided. I had looked on google maps for the address and it looked close … It’s dark, cars slow down to check me out … One car asks me the address, I show them and they point at the next corner … Nearly there … But there’s no hostel on the street. I call the number … No answer, I decide to walk around the block, as the streets and numbers are vague at best, then head back to airport and get a taxi to hotel. As i’m walking a man comes running up to me and asks if i’m lost, he works for a hotel around the corner… I show him the name and address of the hostel, he looks vague and offers to call from his phone… No answer … It’s nearly midnight, so I take him up and follow him around the corner to the hotel, back where I started. I pay for a room, a few times more expensive than planned, but reasonably safe and clean … They have wifi, so I email the hostel and explain the predicament, then have a good night sleep.

I awake this morning to a new email…. Apparently I had arrived at my destination, they were one in the same … No staff member recognised the name Jackrabbit hostel, as the name had changed since I booked and all staff were new. I was just in the wrong room. The owner apologised and i’ll be reimbursed the high late night tourist price …. Funny, I guess…
